Good morning, my friend,
If you haven’t noticed, our review production has slowed over the last few weeks.
That’s both good and bad.
Let’s cover the bad news first. We had a family emergency that crippled our writing schedule. Everybody’s fine now, so no worries, but these situations are a clear reminder that family comes first.
Also, creating good quality reviews for YouTube takes more work than we thought. Every new thing we learn to make the videos better adds production time.
ComicalOpinions has a reputation for creating an impressive amount of thoughtful reviews every week, but that speed comes at the expense of innovation and growth.
Change is necessary.
There’s something to be said for consistency, but in any business, stagnation is worse than death. To innovate, we have to shift the constraint triangle away from speed to quality.
Before you get out the world’s smallest violin, let’s talk about why this bad news is the start of good news.
As we reverse engineer what makes a good video, we’ve stumbled upon a few ways to improve our reviews. If you’re a faithful reader of our written reviews, you’ve probably noticed changes in format as we test out ways to make both the written and video versions more engaging.
In effect, we’re looking at the purpose of the review as telling a “story about a story,” which I suspect will reap benefits in the future.
What does that mean for you?
The reviews, both written and recorded, will be more engaging.
As our channel grows, we’ll have a stronger platform to put the spotlight on indie creators who we feel deserve better exposure. This has been our mission since the beginning.
So, my fine and faithful readers, thank you for your patience.
Change is coming, and we’ll be better for it.
