Good morning, my friend,
Emotion.
Without it, a story is little more than a sequential recount of facts, people, places, and things.
Without emotion, a story isn’t a story because there’s no reason for anyone to listen to it.
A story only has meaning when the focal character feels something that motivates him to move forward. By extension, the audience needs to feel what the focal character feels or they can’t connect.
I have a number of interconnected topics coming up in the Storytellers newsletter planned for 2025, and one topic that will permeate every issue is the ‘Emotion’ - how to create it and how to use it effectively.
If you need more intentional emotion in your storytelling, sign up for the Storytellers newsletter today.
