What’s the hippo in Moon Knight?

The hippo in Moon Knight is Taweret (pronounced “taa·wr·et”), which means “Great One” or “She Who Is Great” in Egyptian. She is the god of childbirth and fertility and is typically depicted as a hippopotamus who walks on two legs like a human, sometimes with lion paws and a crocodile back. Worshipers of Taweret would look to her for blessing in matters of sexual reproduction and protection of newborn children.
