What Does Darth Maul Mean?
Darth Maul is the name of a fictional Star Wars character who first appeared in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999). The literal translation of his title is “Dark Lord Mutilator”. Before becoming a Sith Lord under the teachings of Darth Sidious, Darth Maul was simply named Maul. He is a Zabrak from the planet Dathomir. Maul was born with unusually strong Force sensitivity, making him an ideal candidate to become the Dark Lord of the Sith’s apprentice.
