Comic Reviews for the week ending 3/10/2024
Good morning, my friend,
I’ve gotten a few questions about the inconsistent volume of reviews over the last few weeks.
So, I want to assure you that Comical Opinions isn’t shutting down or going away in the foreseeable future.
Yes, the volumes have been up and down, sometimes waaaayyy down, but that has everything to do with the publishers, not us.
Without letting too much slip, the combination of a traditionally quiet period of the year, the shrinking market, instability in several markets the Comics Industry depends on like printing and shipping, and, of course, the Diamond bankruptcy has created a whirlwind of uncertainty.
Bluntly, the ability of smaller publishers to make, print, ship, and deliver comics is in upheaval. Therefore, we are at the mercy of outside forces to review what’s available.
These headwinds aren’t really a surprise, but many readers may be caught off-guard by how far-reaching these changes have been and how suddenly these changes have had an impact.
Rest assured, we are riding out the storm.
As a heads up, as of this writing, we are 22 days away from the final word on Diamond’s future, so expect March to be a wild month. I can’t even begin to consider what April will be like, but we’ll be right here with you to keep you posted.
